San Antonio Texas
If you get the opportunity to visit San Antonio you will have a great time.
Staying on the Riverwalk is a must do. It is more expensive but it is a great place to spend 3 or 4 days exploring the city while enjoying great places to eat, show and explore. The scenery is breathtaking and the vibe is one of fun and relaxation.
Things to do around the river walk include the Historic Market Square. It is like a flee market of fun shops. You are sure to find something unique to take home as a souvenir and you must have a Mexican lunch while you are there. You must see the Alamo, it is a great lesson in history. Ripley’s Believe it or Not, is a short walk and is a fun place to spend some time. LaVilita Historic Village is a nice walk and is a quaint little area to stroll through. There is a Cathedral not far from the river walk that is beautiful and worth the time. Happy Hour on the River Walk is amazing! Let’s get the party started. There are often 2 for 1 specials, so be sure to get yours!
Be sure to take a day and go visit the missions. I prefer to start at the one way out of town. It is the smallest and offers a nice place to visit. As you enter the small church imagine how many wedding and funerals have taken place in this small historic building. Once you leave there, you will head towards the city and will see Missions that get larger the closer you get to town. One of my favorites has large grounds and is built along a river. The little trail down to the river is refreshing. If you are traveling alone, be warry at this mission. Pay attention to your surroundings because it is a bit off the beaten path but it is a cool place. You could easily spend a day visiting all the missions and you won’t regret 1 minute.
If you like to view beautiful old Mansions you must take half a day and go to the King William Street Neighborhood. You can park your car and stroll down the tree lined streets imagining owning one of these beautiful homes, the smell of Jasmine is my favorite part! Be sure to go early so you can enjoy Brunch at the Guenther House by Pioneer Flour Mill. They are only open between 8:00 a.m and 2:00 p.m. The food is great and the old house is something to see. It is beautiful. There will be a wait, but I promise it is worth it.
If you love flowers and bushes, you should take half a day and visit the Botanical Gardens. When I went they were so beautiful and well maintained. A trip to the gardens started me on a quest for a wisteria bush. My husband and I worked to create an awesome arch with the Wisteria Bush but I never was able to come close to the one I saw at the Botanical Gardens.
I have never been to the San Antonio Tea Gardens or the Zoo, but I have heard amazing things about both. If you have been, please let us know if you would provide a guest blog post about your experience.
